How Much Notice Do You Need to Cancel a VPS Deal? The Auto-Renewal Switch, Priced

Three providers, three different answers, and only one of them is literally 'cancel anytime'. Read on 2026-10-12: DigitalOcean needs zero notice but makes committed spend non-cancelable, Hostinger's auto-renewal is on by default and can charge up to 30 days before your term ends, and Hetzner requires 30 days' notice to the end of a calendar month.

What a Gigabyte of VPS Disk Actually Costs (NVMe vs SSD, Priced Per GB)

Every VPS deal page calls its storage "NVMe" or "SSD" but none of them price it. Read on 2026-10-11, DigitalOcean's own pricing page puts a gigabyte of included disk anywhere from $0.24 to $2.52 a month — a 10.5x spread, and the NVMe badge does not predict where a plan lands. Hostinger sells NVMe at $0.065/GB, which is cheaper than DigitalOcean's non-NVMe SSD.

What a VPS Deal Actually Costs Per GB of RAM

We divided the posted price by the RAM on every plan card three major hosts publish. The spread runs from $1.62 to $9.00 per GB — and one plan inside a single provider's own line costs 50% more per GB than the bigger plan directly above it.

What a VPS Hourly Rate Actually Costs Per Month (The Multiplier Is 672, Not 730)

Every VPS hourly-to-monthly conversion you have read multiplies by 730. DigitalOcean's own pricing table divides to exactly 672 on all 19 published plan pairs, and its billing docs say cycles run on the calendar month — which means the shortcut is right for uncapped plans, 8.63% too high for capped ones, and hands you 696 free hours a year.

Cheap VPS Deals: Which Hosts Will Ask for Your ID — and What Each One Wants First

Read off the providers' own pages on 2026-10-16: Namecheap publishes a list of 18 document types it may request (6 of them, 33.3%, are photo IDs) and gives you a Veriff link that expires in 7 days. Hetzner offers exactly 2 verification paths, 1 of which needs a government ID — and warns that signing up over a VPN makes it harder for them to verify you. Hostinger reserves the right to demand 'government-issued photo identification' and, after a chargeback, a credit-card photo with the first 6 and last 4 digits uncovered — 10 of 16 digits, 62.5% of the number. DigitalOcean's ToS mentions government ID zero times and instead verifies your payment instrument for $0, $5 or $25.00. Liquid Web checks your credit, not your ID.

Cheap VPS Deals: What Each Host Will Actually Take as Payment — and What Crypto Costs You

Read off providers' own pages on 2026-10-15: DigitalOcean takes 7 card brands plus PayPal/Google Pay/Apple Pay/Alipay/Link plus stablecoins from 400+ wallets, and charges $25.00 to verify a crypto wallet but $0 to verify Apple Pay. Hetzner takes 4 card brands, SEPA (EUR accounts only), wire and PayPal, and states plainly 'We do not accept cryptocurrencies.' Hostinger accepts crypto and then says crypto purchases 'will not be refunded.' Namecheap and Liquid Web publish no payment-method list at all.

What "Renews at $X" Means on a VPS Deal Page

A VPS deal's discount badge never equals your renewal increase. Here is the one-line formula, tested against eight real plan cards, to get next year's price before you buy.

Cheap VPS Deals and SLA Credits: What You Actually Get Paid When the Server Goes Down

Read off providers' own pages on 2026-10-14: DigitalOcean's CPU Droplet SLA has exactly one tier — below 99.99% it pays 100% of the affected Droplet's monthly charge, and the trigger is about four minutes of downtime. Hetzner publishes 99.9% annual network availability with no credit at all, Hostinger's VPS terms say the uptime guarantee applies 'if any', and Namecheap bills $10.00 to bring a failed server back online.

Who Actually Collects the VAT on Your VPS Deal

Nobody on a VPS deal page tells you who charges the tax. Read the hosts' own billing docs side by side and one rule governs all of them — the collector is set by your tax location, and that location is seeded from the billing address on the payment method you attach first.
